Praja Rajyam’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) is understood to be mulling extending support to the candidature of Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar as Prime Minister after the Fourth Front took shape following the announcement of results on May 16.
A suggestion to this effect is learnt to have been made by senior party leaders P. Shiv Shankar and P. Upendra at a meeting of the PAC here on Tuesday. The Praja Rajyam is confident of winning at least 160 seats, thereby acquiring a clear majority i n the 294-strong Assembly and forming the next government in the State.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat discussed the latest political scenario with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu at the latter’s residence here on Monday.
On landing in Hyderabad on Monday afternoon, Mr. Karat drove straight to Mr. Naidu’s residence along with CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and state secretary B V Raghavulu and discussed the electoral prospects of the Grand Alliance in Andhra Pradesh where elections have just ended.
Mr. Karat and Mr.Naidu also deliberated on the Third Front’s electoral prospects, TDP sources said. Mr. Naidu reportedly told the CP(M) general secretary that the TDP-TRS-CPI-CP(M) combine put up a good show and would secure a clear majority to form the next government in the state. The Grand Alliance would also bag the maximum number of Lok Sabha seats in the state so as to emerge as a decisive force at the national level, he reportedly added.

Tadipatri strongman J C Diwakar Reddy has won five consecutive times from Tadipatri assembly constituency. That he wasn’t defeated
even during N T Rama Rao’s sway in 1983 polls stands testimony to his stranglehold on the constituency.
But things have changed a lot in the fiefdom of the panchayat raj minister in the last five years.
